Shivani Bhalla

Shivani is an artist, researcher, and educator from India with a deep interest in the intersection of art and disability. She maintains an active art practice and has exhibited her work internationally and across the United States. She brings over 15 years of experience as an educator in higher education and in a variety of community-based settings.

She is a strong advocate for making art accessible and meaningful for people with disabilities and believes that art can serve as a powerful avenue for self-expression and for developing a positive disability identity. Shivani earned her BFA and MFA in Painting in India and recently completed her PhD in Art Education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

She recently moved to Seattle and has fallen in love with the city’s natural beauty and rich cultural life. She looks forward to deepening her engagement with the local art community and contributing to disability rights advocacy through her work.
