Caregivers Take a Creative Break — Our Free Paint Night Was a Full-House Success!
On October 19, 2025, caregivers from across our community gathered at Graphite Arts Center in Edmonds for a very special event: Art for All’s Free Caregiver Paint Night. The class filled to capacity very quickly - proof of how much caregivers value opportunities to unwind and reconnect with themselves.
A Night Just for Caregivers
Caregivers dedicate a significant amount of their time, energy, and heart to others. This evening was all about giving back to them — a chance to slow down, breathe, and create in a supportive, judgment-free environment.
Guided by Artist Carrie Wine
Local artist and instructor Carrie Wine led the group in creating a cozy, fall-themed painting on canvas. Step by step, Carrie made the process approachable for every skill level, from first-time painters to those rediscovering a long-lost hobby. With her encouragement and warmth, participants learned how to blend rich autumn colors and capture the season's glow.
The Experience
The atmosphere at Graphite was relaxed and uplifting. Brushes tapped, and laughter filled the room, as conversations flowed easily among caregivers who rarely got a moment to themselves. Each attendee left not only with a beautiful painting — complete with fall leaves and pumpkins — but also with a sense of calm and connection.
Why We Offer This
Art for All’s mission is to make art accessible for everyone, especially adult artists with disabilities and the caregivers who support them. By offering this class for free, we aimed to remove financial barriers and provide caregivers with the creative self-care they often overlook. The full registration list demonstrated the true need for this kind of event.
Looking Ahead
The success of this event makes it clear: creative respite for caregivers is essential. We’re already exploring future classes — perhaps a winter landscape or spring floral series — guided by talented local artists like Carrie Wine.
Thank You
A heartfelt thank-you to:
Carrie Wine, for leading with creativity and compassion.
Graphite Arts Center, for opening your welcoming space to our group.
And most of all, to the caregivers, who nurture others every day and take the time to nurture themselves.
