Welcoming a New Instructor and a New Class
Shivani Bhalla, instructor for Art Explore at Art For All
Meet Our New Instructor: Shivani Bhalla
We’re excited to welcome a new instructor to Art For All. Shivani Bhalla will be leading our new Art Explore class this season.
Shivani is an artist, researcher, and educator originally from India, with a deep interest in the intersection of art and disability. She brings over 15 years of experience teaching in higher education and community-based settings, along with an active art practice that has been exhibited both internationally and across the United States.
She is a strong advocate for making art accessible and meaningful for people with disabilities. Her work centers on the idea that art can be a powerful tool for self-expression and for developing a positive sense of identity. Shivani holds a BFA and MFA in Painting and recently completed her PhD in Art Education at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Now based in Seattle, she’s looking forward to connecting with the local community and continuing her work in inclusive arts and disability advocacy.
About the Class: Art Explore
Art Explore is a hands-on, welcoming class designed for participants of all experience levels. Each session offers the opportunity to try different materials, styles, and creative techniques in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Rather than focusing on doing things “perfectly,” this class is about exploring, experimenting, and finding your own way of creating. Projects can be approached in simple or more advanced ways, depending on each participant’s interests and comfort level.
Art Explore is held at 4:30pm on Thursdays at the Shoreline Senior Center. Participants enrolled in Drama Class are welcome to stay after for a sack dinner before class begins.
At Art For All, we believe everyone deserves access to creative expression and a space to be seen and supported. We’re excited for our community to learn from Shivani and explore new ways of making art together.
